Probably the most common soft tissue surgery performed on pets is the removal of masses or lumps. Most of these masses, once removed and tested, are found to be benign (non-harmful); however, occasionally they are more serious. Early removal or accurate diagnosis of a lump is necessary to improve the outcome in your pet if the mass is cancerous.
Another common type of soft tissue is the removal of foreign objects eaten by cats or dogs. This surgery may involve repairing severely compromised pieces of the gastrointestinal tract.
The urinary system is an area where we commonly have to perform surgery. Stones can develop in the bladder of dogs and cats and surgical removal is extremely important in these cases.
There are many indications for soft tissue surgery. The veterinarians at the South Windsor Animal Hospital will be happy to discuss the benefits of any surgery recommended by our hospital. Feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss how we may be able to help your pet.
